Global warming is a phenomenon that has a significant impact on biodiversity throughout the world. The rise in Earth’s average temperature due to greenhouse gas emissions has contributed to climate change which is detrimental to ecosystems and species. Rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns and extreme weather phenomena have created major challenges for various species of flora and fauna. One of the most direct impacts is habitat loss. Climate change causes ecosystem shifts, where many species are forced to adapt, move, or face extinction. For example, species in mountainous areas may not be able to move higher due to physical constraints. In addition, deforestation and the expansion of agricultural land in response to climate change threaten natural habitats, reducing the living space for many species. Rising temperatures also affect species’ life cycles. Many organisms, especially in tropical areas, depend on certain temperature conditions to reproduce and survive. As temperatures increase, their mating or migration periods could be disrupted. For example, migratory birds may arrive at nesting grounds earlier, but this may result in a mismatch with food supplies that have adapted more slowly. Climate change also causes CO2 concentrations to increase, which affects photosynthesis in plants. Certain plants may grow faster, but other species may be threatened. As a result, the food chain is disrupted. Herbivore species may lose food sources, which would have implications for predators that depend on them. This creates instability in the ecosystem. Additionally, many species face threats from invasive species that have the opportunity to establish themselves in new areas. Climate change is creating more favorable conditions for these alien species to replace local species that have existed for thousands of years. This can result in a decrease in genetic diversity and the loss of endemic species. Damage to coral reefs due to global warming is also an important factor that endangers marine biodiversity. Rising sea temperatures and water acidity due to CO2 absorption cause coral bleaching. If coral reefs are destroyed, many species of fish and other marine organisms lose shelter, shelter, and food sources. In the face of these serious impacts, it is important to undertake stronger conservation efforts. Sustainable management of natural resources, reducing carbon emissions, and protecting habitats are important steps to protect biodiversity. Educating the public about the importance of biodiversity can help create awareness and support for urgent conservation action. In addition, international collaboration in research and action to reduce the impacts of global warming is urgently needed. Applying environmentally friendly technologies and integrating conservation aspects in economic development are vital strategies for maintaining biodiversity in the future. Sustainability and protection of species must be a top priority, not only for the benefit of the environment but also for human well-being.
